Integrating Life Skills and ‘Real World’ Experiences
Bridge at Valley Glen is one of the few psychiatric rehabilitation and transitional living facilities in the U.S. – especially one with a comfortable and non-institutional residential component – that offers a full program of guiding clients into real world settings to practice their newly-learned skills. Clients then seamlessly integrate these experiences and life skills into the one-on-one sessions with their psychiatrists, therapists, or case managers.
Some of these activities include grocery shopping, using public transportation, job application, budgeting money, setting educational goals, and, above all, establishing a consistent routine.
We also address skills and activities that our clients would normally encounter at home. All clients perform daily chores in order to foster a sense of community and teach personal responsibility as well as respect for their environment.
Communication & Family Support
Bridge’s Executive Director serves as the family liaison, one of the hallmarks of the Bridge Program.
This serves to connect families with their loved one’s treatment team. The family liaison program insures that every member is on the same page and that there are no gaps in the client’s recovery program.
